The Quick and the Dead

Think you're quick enough?

USA 1995 Color

Synopsis: This Western borrows many conventions from the films of Sergio Leone as it follows the exploits of a female gunslinger involved in a bloody quick-draw contest. It's dueling time in the lawless town of Redemption and tough- talking, hard drinking stranger Ellen has come to join the fun. Herod is the reigning draw-meister who also runs the town. The old quick-draw artist kills for the joy of it. Also coming to usurp the king of killing are the Kid, a cocky adolescent who could be Herod's son, black leather clad Ace Hanlon, tough-guy Scars who marks his victories upon his arm, Sgt. Cantrell, the cool pipe smoking African American, and the mystical Indian, who has a Geronimo complex and believes bullets cannot harm him. Ellen has not only come to win the contest, but also to exact revenge upon Herod. Her reasons become apparent during the course of the film. The climax comes between Ellen and Herod.
